In 1940, a French soldier named René Cléon was captured by the Germans and spent five years in a POW camp. A shoemaker by trade, René practised his craft while in captivity and dreamed of starting his own shoe manufacturing workshop. After the war, he opened his factory in Anjou and Kleman (short for Cléon Manufacture) has been making beautiful shoes ever since.
Kleman’s moc-toe Padror model has remained unchanged since the 80’s, and that’s a damn good thing because the Padror is pretty much perfect. This season we’ve got the Padror in classic black and brown, as well as the two-tone Padror Oak and beige Padrini. For those who hate laces we have the Dalior 2 and the lug-soled Etendard Oak, both of which also come in women’s sizes. Rounding out our selection are the Danor, Frodan Oak, and Dormance derbies.
To clean the suede models, a good suede brush should do the trick (or even a toothbrush). For the leather models, you can wipe off dirt with a slightly damp cloth and use black leather polish/cream/wax to buff out scratches.
