In 1949, a baseball-obsessed Japanese government officer named Mitsugu Tanabe quit his job and founded Tanabe Meriyasu, a factory for baseball goods. While historically specializing in baseball uniforms, Tanabe Meriyasu continues its tradition of manufacturing classic American sportswear under the Jackman label. Every piece from Jackman is still made in Japan from high quality cotton and looks just as good in 2020 as it would in 1960.
Jackman's back just in time for spring, bringing with them all manner of everyday essentials and baseball-inspired goodies – all featuring some of the coolest fabrics money can buy. New this season are the Waffle Polo, a premium take on baseball team owners' sweatshirts from the 40s-50s, as well as the versatile Midneck Tee and the summer-friendly BB Shirt. Don't worry, all your faves have been restocked too – including the Pocket T-Shirt, the Dotsume Shorts, and the Waffle Midneck.
Most of our Jackman products are made of 100% cotton, so we recommend washing on a cold cycle to avoid shrinkage. You can hang dry the t-shirts, but for heavier pieces we recommend laying flat to dry to avoid stretching the fabric. For the Stretch Jacket and Stretch Trousers, wash on cold and hang to dry; DO NOT tumble dry these garments because they will shrink significantly.
