Rototo

Rototo is a premium sock brand hailing from Nara Prefecture, Japan, a region with a centuries-old tradition in textile production and the country's largest sock-making area. Founded in 2014 by designer Daisuke Ishii, the brand's core philosophy centers on creating "lifelong consumables"—products designed for exceptional durability and comfort to bring small, everyday happiness to the wearer. Rototo achieves this by meticulously combining traditional Japanese craftsmanship with a modern sensibility, resulting in socks that feel both timeless and innovative.

The brand is renowned for its slow, artisanal production process, which carefully selects and blends high-quality, natural yarns like organic cotton, merino wool, and linen. Rototo intentionally avoids mass production, instead utilizing a combination of rare, vintage knitting machines (some dating back to the early 1900s) and modern technology. This method requires considerable human input from skilled local artisans, ensuring superior texture, durability, and a unique quality that automated, high-speed machines cannot replicate. The signature Double Face Socks, which layer materials like wool and cotton for ultimate comfort, exemplify Rototo's commitment to thoughtful, functional design.
